Evidence of caribou hunting is found in archaeological sites 120 feet below the modern lake and have been investigated by the University of Michigan since 2009. These sites have been studied using sonar, ROVs, AUVs, and scuba divers and have revealed evidence of a subarctic Ice Age Free event and open to the public.
