Our Heritage Monthly Lecure Series - Iosco County Historical Society Presents a monthly lecture featuring Lugene Danies.  All programs are at 6:30pm at the Iosco County Historical Museum, 405 W. Bay St., in East Tawas.  They will take place every third Wednesday, starting April 18th, May 16th, June 20th, July 18th, August 15th and the final lecture will be September 19th. Each lecture will talk about the amazing history of our area and in the State of Michigan.


Tip Night Fundraiser - G's Pizzeria is holding a Tip Night to benefit the Tawas High School Golf Team, Monday, March 19th from 5pm to 8pm.  Dine in or Carry out, just mention the golf team.  All Proceeds to benefit the TAHS Golf Team with equipment, uniform and tournament fees.


Fifty Shades of Rose' - The Camp Inn will be hosting a wine tasting experience with "Fifty Shades of Rose'".  Men vs Women, Blindfolds, Wine, so bring a friend  to play.  Explore trending Rose' wines on Thursday, March 22nd at 6pm.  Select a Wine Mistress and Wine Master, learn about  he maceration process and the anatomy of the grape.  Hone your wine tasting skills and reveal the dominant wine of the evening.  Cost is $15 per person and includes wine tasting, Rose' workshop, and appetizers.


Trivia Night - Northern Michigan Children's Assessment Center Iosco is presenting a night of Trivia, Saturday, March 24th at 7pm.  The event will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Newman St., in East Tawas.  Tickets are $20.00 per person with teams of 4-8 people.  There will be a 50/50 drawing, pop, water and snacks provided, you may bring your own alcohol if you would like.  Early registration is encouraged, send to Tricia Night c/o DHHS, 2145 E. Vendor Blender - Local Crafters, Artisans, & Vendors will be having a blender Saturday, March 24th and Sunday, March 25th from 10am to 4pm both days.  It will be held at 219 Newman St., East Tawas, the old Branham's location.


Mystery of Bigfoot - A program and townhall meeting will be held at the Robert Parks Library, Saturday, March 24th from 9:30am to 1pm.  Local Bigfoot Researcher Phil Shaw will speak about the 10 reasons Bigfoot Exists, Sasquatch and the Biblical Connection, he has also documented over 90+ incidents of Bigfoot activity in the West Branch area.  Admission is free and everyone is welcome.  You can also share your experience if you have ever seen a Bigfoot or their tracks. Easter Egg Hunt - Neiman's Market of Tawas is holding an Easter Egg Hunt, March 24th starting at 11am.  So bring the kids for some fun and prizes.


Iosco-Arenac District Library - Spring Break Staycation Fun, Wednesday, March 28th at the Robert J. Parks Library in Oscoda at 10:30am and the Plainfield Township Library in Hale at 2pm.  Come and check out "Wild Potpourri" where you can see and learn about animals with Jim & Carol McGrath.  They are the keepers of the largest collection of live Michigan reptiles and amphibians in the state.  Come see a variety of these fascinating creatures along with a tone of interesting facts.  For info please call (989)362-2651.

Iosco-Arenac District Library - Spring Break Staycation Fun, Thursday, March 29th at the Tawas City Library at 10:30am and Whittemore Library at 2pm.  Come and be amazed with the "Impossible Magic", with Amazing Clark. Chocolate Extravaganza - Tawas Moose Lodge will be hosting a Chocolate Extravaganza and Bake Sale Benefit Fundraiser for the Tawas Area Little League.  It will take place March 31st, from 3pm to 8pm., $15 for a 9x5x6 box to fill with chocolate goodies of all kinds!!!  For an additional $5 you can partake in the all you can eat and drink S'mores and Hot Cocoa.  You can also purchase pies, cakes, cupcakes, and Easter Baskets, as well as a Silent Raffle, and 50/50 drawings.  So come and support our local Little League kids!


Quota International of Iosco County - Breakfast with the Easter Bunny will be held from 9am to 11am. at the Tawas United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 31st.  Children along with their parents and friends can enjoy a pancake and sausage breakfast, pick an egg to win a prize, get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny.  Tickets are available at the door for $5.00 per person.


Easter Eggstravaganza - The Oscoda Baptist Church will be holding an Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday, March 31st from 10am to 11:30am.  Bring the kids for Easter Egg hunts, games, and snacks. 


Iosco Conservation District - Tree Sale will be held Friday, April 27th, and Saturday, April 28th, from 9am to 5pm and Sunday, April 29th from 10am to 3pm.  You may order seedlings, transplants, shrubs, small fruit plants, and fruit trees.  A limited supply of excess trees will be available on site on the days of the sale.  Orders are due by Monday, April 2nd, and pick up is at the Tawas Inn, 1124 S. Klondike Challenge Weekend - An AuSable River Canoe Marathon Fundraiser will be held Saturday, April 7th and Sunday, April 8th.  Saturday there is a Canoe and Kayak Challenge with registration starting at 11am at Chemical Bank in Oscoda. Cost per entry is $5 per paddler.  Race to start at 1pm.  Lunch and post race meeting will be held at the AuSable Inn, approximately 2:30pm cost of lunch is not included in the entry fee.  On Sunday there will be a 5k Run/Walk & 10k Challenge with registration beginning at 11am across from Van Etten Lake State Forest Campground on F-41. Spring Concert - Tawas Community Concert Band will perform a Spring Concert on Monday evening, April 16th, starting at 7:30pm at the Tawas Area High School Gym.  So come and enjoy the sounds of our local Concert Band.


Project Graduation - Tawas Area High School will be hosting a tip night at G's Pizzeria in East Tawas, April 17th from 5pm to 8pm.  Come help out Project Graduation and get some great food at the same time.


Kindergarten Registration - Sterling Elementary School is holding their Kindergarten Registration on Wednesday, April 18th from 5pm to 7pm at the Sterling Elementary School.  Your child must be 5 on or before September 1, 2018.  All children will participate in a developmental readiness screening with the SSC Kindergarten teachers while their parents complete the registration forms. Alcona Conservation District - The 2018 Spring Tree Sale will be held Saturday, April 28th from 9am to 1pm, at the ARA Site (fairgrounds), 854 N. Barlow Rd., Lincoln (across from Kris Mart).  Pre-sale deadline is April 6th.  Please go to for the pre-sale form.

Tawas Point Migration 2018 - Ausable Valley Audubon will host "Tawas Point Migration", Thursday, May 17th through Saturday, May 19th.  A large assortment of evening and daytime guided field trips at East Tawas State Park, Tuttle Marsh, Loon Lake Nature Park, Hale and Huron National Forest.  Excellent speakers, two live birds of prey shows, kids activities and more.  To register visit


Sunrise Solstice Art and Music Festival - The Festival will be held Saturday, June 16th from 6am to 11pm, at the Shoreline Park in Tawas City.  There will be an art competition, with artist registering online and then get their canvas stamped on the morning of the 16th.  They may then go and paint anywhere in the Tawas area, and return their completed work by 5pm for voting by the festival goers. First place earns $500.00, Second place is $300.00, and Third place is $200.00.  There will also be live bands at the Towne Square in the afternoon until 9pm.  Many more activities to come, so please keep an eye on their web site at  Proceeds to benefit Tawas Area High School fine arts (visual and musical) and student athletes.  All applications can be found on the web site.
