Earth Day Cleanup - An Earth Day Cleanup Kickoff, sponsored by the Tawas Rotary Club takes place on Sunday, April 21st from 9:00am-4:00pm and runs all week long. To register, volunteer, pick up supplies, or drop off trash, go to the East Tawas City Park Day Use Area and look for the Gazebo. Groups of three or more can register in advance for the chance to win a solar powered earth globe. This is an outdoor cleaning efford in your neighborhood or an assigned area. Substance Turn-In - The Iosco Substance Free Coalition presents the "Iosco County Spring Cleaning Challenge." Gather your unused, unneeded, or expired medicine including pills, liquids, pain patches, and used syrings on Tuesday, April 23rd and bring it to the Oscoda Senior Center, 653 State Street, Oscoda from 10:00am-Noon. There will be a participation prize while supplies last.

Open Interviews - Saganing Eagles Landing Casino & Hotel in Standish is holding Open Interviews for cashiers, waitstaff, bartenders, F&B attendants, and line cooks for their Summer Tribute Concert Series starting in June. Interviews will be Wednesday, April 24th from 1:00-4:00pm. Bring your resume, ID, and Social Security Card.

IRESA Open House - The Iosco Regional Educational Service Agency will Hold their Open House at the main building, 27 North Rempert Road, Tawas City on Thursday, April 25th from 4:00-6:00pm. Tour, activites, and meet the staff of: Automotive Technology; Building Trades; Business Management; Culinary Arts; Health Science; Teacher Prep; and Welding & Fabrication.

 

Cornhole Tournament - The American Legion Audie Johnson Post #211 will host a Cornhole Tournament at the Post, 900 East Lincoln Street, East Tawas on Thursday, April 25th from 5:30-11:00pm. Entry fee is $15 per person with prizes for 1st and 2nd place. Plus burger or hot dog with chips & drink for $6. For more inforation call 989-329-6153.

 

Trivia Fundraiser - The Holltop Bar & Grill, 431 West Mill Street, Oscoda, will hold a Trivia Night Fundraiser on Thursday, April 25th. Signup starts at 6:00pm, game begins at 6:30pm. Cost is a $5 per person entry fee for teams up to six people. Proceeds to the Down Syndrome Society. Winners get prizes and light snacks provided. For more information call 989-739-0344.

 

Spring Party - American Legion Post #370 will host a Spring Party on Saturday, April 27th from 3:00pm until Midnight at the Post, 805 Greenwood Road, Skidway Lake. Spring Soiree - Harbor Lights Pregnancy and Information Center presents their Spring Soiree Dinner, Dance, and Fundraiser on Friday, April 26th. Held at the AuSable Inn Riverview Restaurant, 600 S. State Street in Oscoda. Doors open at 5:00pm, Buffet Dinner at 6:00pm. There will also be a cash bar and raffles. Entertainment by Motor City Memories Band from 6:00-9:00pm. Alumni Games - The Tawas Schools Alumni Baseball & Softball games will be played on Sunday, April 28th at Bolen Park in East Tawas beginning at noon. Spectators welcome! Alumni can sign up by calling the school or emailing splank@tawas.net

Tawas Schools Fundraiser - A Tip Night Fundraiser for Tawas Project Graduation Class of 2024 will be held Wednesday, May 1st from 4:00-7:00pm at the Lodge on U.S. 23 in Tawas City. Come out and support Tawas Area seniors.


Lighthouse Grand Re-Opening - The Friends of Tawas Point Lighthouse & State Park and the Michigan DNR invite you to their Tawas Point Lighthouse Grand Re-Opening Celebration on Thursday, May 2nd from 11:00am until 4:00pm. Opening presentation at 11:00am with activities to follow. Enjoy local artwork from Tawas Bay Art Gallery, food trucks, free lighthouse tours, the gift shop, and live music. Held on the lighthouse lawn at Tawas Point State Park. a Recreation Passport is required for entry.

 

Prayer Service - A National Day of Prayer service will be held on Thursday, May 2nd from Noon-1:00pm at the Iosco County Building on U.S. 23 in Tawas City. All are welcome to attend.

 

Blood Drive - The American Red Cross will hold a Blood Drive on Thursday, May 2nd from Noon-5:45pm at the Fraternal Order of Eagles club on M-65 north of Hale. For more information visit redcrossblood.org.

 

Community Cleanup - Girl Scout Troup #50414 will hold a Community Cleanup of the AuSable Children's Park on Thursday, May 2nd from 4:00-7:00pm at the park in Oscoda. All are welcome to join them in cleaning the park. Bring your gloves! For more information call 989-820-0305.

Spring Concert - The Huron Shores Chorus Spring Concert, evoking our eaerth and springtime, performed by area singers with instrumental accompaniment will be held Friday, Mary 3rd beginning at 7:00pm at Oscoda United Methodist Church, 120 West Dwight Street, Oscoda. Free admission with donations accepted.

Oscoda Senior Center - Visit the Oscoda Senior Center located at 653 State Street SW in Oscoda. Enjoy great food, line dancing, cardio drumming, card games, crafts, board games, relaxation coloring, nature walks, the writing club, and meeting new friends and socializing with friends and neighbors. K of C Burger Night - Did you miss Fish and Burger Monday's at the Rushman Hall in East Tawas? Dinners are from 4:30pm to 6:30pm, dine in or take out.  There will be fish and a 1/2 lb Smash Burger and a whole lot more. So come on in for some fantastic food and burgers. Sand Lake Bingo - The Sand Lake Heights Seniors host Bingo Tuesdays at the building in Sand Lake. Doors open at 11:00am, Bingo at Noon with proceeds to the Sand Lake Seniors.

 

Sand Lake Bingo - The Sand Lake Heights Men's Association will host Bingo with a Michigan Progressive Jackpot, Fridays at the building in Sand Lake. Doors open at 5:00pm, Bingo at 6:00pm.

 

Cancer Support - Friends Together, the cancer support agency serving all of northeast Michigan is holidng a support group Tuesdays at 5:30pm at Rushman Hall on Newman Street in East Tawas. Anyone who has been touched by cancer, or if you have a family member with a cancer diagnosis, you are welcome to the weekly support group. All Friends Together programs and services are free. Line Dancing - "Thursday Night at the V," Line Dancing Class will be held Thursdays from 6:00-8:00pm at VFW Lodge #3735, 240 Chrysler in Oscoda. Food Pantry - If you or someone you know is in need of food, there is a free food pantry available at the United Methodist Church in Oscoda. The Pantry is located by the entry doors nearest to the church parsonage. The Pantry is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Pantry is refilled by community donations. All items are free to those who need them.

 

Baby Needs - If you or someone you know is in need of free supplies for babies or toddlers, such as diapers, pull-ups, wipes, or rash cream, these are avaiable through Iosco County MDHHS.
