Nicholas Hoult is headed to Hogwarts.

The actor is set to play Gilderoy Lockhart in season 2 of HBO's upcoming Harry Potter TV series.

HBO Max made the announcement in a post to Instagram on Tuesday.

"Magical Me indeed. Now, how many autographs would you like? Nicholas Hoult has been cast as Gilderoy Lockhart in season two of the new HBO Original Harry Potter Series," the post is captioned.

The first season of the series, titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, debuts on HBO and HBO Max on Dec. 25. Its season 2 renewal was announced on May 6.

Gilderoy Lockhart was previously played by Kenneth Branagh in the 2002 film Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The character is a famous, vain wizard known for his heroic acts that he has described in books written about himself. He takes over as the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts.

Dominic McLaughlin leads the cast of the upcoming show as Harry Potter. He stars alongside Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton, who play Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The series is described as a faithful adaptation of the books by J.K. Rowling, who serves as an executive producer.

Succession's Jon Brown, who was a writer on season 1, has been promoted to co-showrunner for season 2. He will serve in the role alongside Francesca Gardiner, the showrunner of season 1.

Hoult isn't the first casting news about season 2. On May 18, ABC Audio confirmed that Gracie Cochrane, the actress who portrays Ginny Weasley in season 1, will not return to play the character in season 2 of the series.

Jenna Fischer has joined in on the support for Lucy Davis after the actress revealed she has incurable breast cancer.

Davis, known for playing Dawn Tinsley in the U.K. version of The Office, took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a health update. She announced she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2025 and that the disease has metastasized to her bones.

"A year and a half ago I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer, which has metastasized to my bones. Specifically to my spine, right hip, and my ribs. The cancer is incurable, and too late for chemo," Davis wrote.

She continued, "As of now, I’m trying to live out whatever might be left of my life in as fun a way as I possibly can. I always like to find the teachable moments in anything negative that happens. And cancer has not disappointed in that regard; there’s a lot I have learned from it, and I’m grateful for that."

Davis said she wants to continue working as long as she can.

"I still would like to keep working. I’m perfectly able to do so, and acting is one of the biggest joys in my life," she wrote. "For those of you on a similar journey to mine, I do wish you well. Cancer asks a lot from us, physically and mentally. And we all get to do it however we choose."

Her post garnered support from her many fans and famous friends. Fischer, who played her counterpart character Pam Beesly in the U.S. version of The Office, commented, “Beautiful post. Love you lots. And yes to working with cancer! Let’s spread that message far and wide! How working is such a comfort!”

Fischer herself is a breast cancer survivor. She revealed she was living cancer free in 2024 after she had been diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer.

Davis' Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright also shared support. He commented, "Love you Lucy. Always. See you very soon." Sarah Paulson also took to the comments, writing, "you are and always have been full of magic."

The official trailer for Verity is here.

Anne Hathaway stars alongside Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett in the movie, which finds Hathaway also producing and Johnson executive producing.

The film follows author Verity Crawford (Hathaway) and Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson), "a struggling writer who relocates to the remote Crawford estate to ghostwrite for Verity," according to its official synopsis. "After Lowen uncovers what appears to be Verity's chilling autobiographical notes, she wrestles with the disturbing and twisted confessions about Verity’s husband Jeremy (Hartnett), and finds it hard to separate fiction from reality, manipulation from attraction, and opportunity from obsession."

The new trailer finds Johnson's Lowen approached by Hartnett's Jeremy to finish writing Verity's final novel.

"Her fans know her voice. They would know it's not her," Lowen says.

Later in the trailer, Lowen finds a draft of Verity's autobiography.

"A writer's words should be honest, and bloody, and a little bit terrifying," Hathaway's Verity says in a voice-over.

Michael Showalter directed the film from a screenplay by Nick Antosca, which was produced by Hoover.

Verity arrives in theaters on Oct. 2.

Brad Pitt opens up about sobriety, suicidal thoughts in candid interview

Brad Pitt is getting candid about his life behind the scenes, opening up about sobriety and his mental health.

In a wide-ranging interview with Esquire published on Monday, the Academy Award winner said he's no longer sober and that he had felt suicidal at one point over "family stuff."

"I was sober for seven years," Pitt said. "And then I got back off the wagon. In a more restrained manner. I got overconfident a couple times, went, 'Yep, nope, not good for me. Not in big quantities.'"

Pitt said he can drink a few glasses of wine now but added that he "can't have a lot," saying that he has to be "professional about it."

Last year, the F1 actor opened up about his experience attending Alcoholics Anonymous. He also has previously credited Bradley Cooper for helping him get sober.

Elsewhere in the interview, Pitt opened up about the death of his mother in August 2025.

His mother's death was one of several challenging moments he said he faced involving family, which he said led him to an especially low point in his life.

"I've never been suicidal except for one little period. And in that one little period, I just thought — I just couldn't — just didn't see a way out," he said, describing the pain he felt at the time as "oppressive."

"Yeah. Like, listen: This s*** ain't easy," he added. "And you're talking to a guy who won the lottery."

Pitt's next movie role is in Heart of the Beast. He's also a producer on the project.

Pitt plays Special Forces Officer James Belmont in the film, who, along with his combat dog Odin, finds himself "stranded deep in the Alaskan wilderness," according to a synopsis.

The film is directed by David Ayer and written by Cameron Alexander. J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe also star in it.

Heart of the Beast arrives in theaters on Sept. 25.

Ryan Murphy 'might bring' Ariana Grande back for a future 'American Horror Story' season

Fans got excited when they heard that Ariana Grande was reuniting with Ryan Murphy for a small role in the upcoming season 13 of American Horror Story, but then it was announced that she'd dropped out due to her tour.  Now Murphy, who first worked with Grande in Scream Queens, says the singer's exit from the show was "really, truly a scheduling conflict" and not part of any desire on her part to withdraw from the public eye.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Murphy says, "I had an idea and I came to her and she, very immediately, said, 'I’m not sure because I think I’m going on tour.' I don’t think the tour had been announced, and she had obviously just finished the Wicked movie."

"So when it came time to do that episode, I called her up and she was like, 'I don’t know how I’m going to juggle the tour with this.' And I said, 'OK, if you can’t, we can push to another season.' She said, 'Great.'”

He continued, "You have to be respectful. Who is busier than Ariana Grande? No one. She had told me at the time, 'I have this album that’s dropping.' It was really, truly a scheduling conflict. I said, 'OK, we’ll kick that can down the road.'"

"I love her, and I support her. It was a very big swing, but I might bring that back for another season, per Ariana’s availability. I think the world of her," he concluded.

And speaking of singers in TV shows, Murphy also tells the publication that he's "considering [bringing back] Glee." He explains, "For many, many people now in their 20s, they grew up on that show and it meant something to them. The music meant something. So, let’s kick it around and see what we get."

'Grand Theft Auto VI' will debut extended look on Netflix

This graphic shows a still from 'Grand Theft Auto VI.' (Rockstar Games, Netflix)

We got ... Grand Theft Auto 6?!

Rockstar Games and Netflix have announced a new partnership to premiere an extended look at the massively anticipated new game in the Grand Theft Auto series, Grand Theft Auto VI.

This event will premiere exclusively on Netflix on Aug. 27 at 3 p.m. ET. It gives subscribers to the streaming service an extended look at the upcoming game before it releases for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on Nov. 19.

Grand Theft Auto VI takes place in Vice City, USA.

"Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive," according to an official description of the game.

This new iteration in the Grand Theft Auto franchise arrives 13 years after Grand Theft Auto V debuted in 2013. Netflix notes this was the same year that it began its push into original programming. The company says the collaboration "represents the next generation of storytelling and content on Netflix."

Grand Theft Auto reveals have become cultural moments in their own right. The anticipation and fandom around Grand Theft Auto VI is unprecedented, and we’re honored that Rockstar Games has partnered with us to debut the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story with Netflix members first,” Brandon Riegg, VP of Nonfiction Series at Netflix, said. “It’s a reflection of what we hope Netflix is becoming: a place where the most ambitious storytelling, from any medium, can find the biggest possible audience.”
